It All Began With An Idea

In 1967, at the age of 58, Panagiotis Proimos moved his family from Drakovouni, Greece to Gary, Indiana. Growing up, Andy, Vange, and Gus always knew the importance of education in their household. Panagiotis achieved that goal by pushing one singular idea; “Educate my kids so they can succeed in American Society. If education is pushed, opportunities will be created”.

Working in the Steel Mill, Panagiotis’ middle son Andreas (Andy) worked his way from a low-level employee to machine shop specialist. From there, Andy started his own business repairing cars, which he developed into a thriving business. Over time Vange and Gus joined in, and with help and support from the Greek Community made a business empire.

Andy always believed his family and community were the two reasons for the family’s success. As a thank you, Andy created the Andreas Proimos Scholarship fund to help jumpstart Greek Orthodox kids on their journey to becoming successful and happy.
